Default Outrageous vehicle excise duty will be RETROSPECTIVE

Unbelievably, the government have decided to make the new rates of VED retrospective! ALL vehicles from 2001 onwards will end up in new tax bands A-M instead of the present A-G. BUT much, much worse is this invidious extension to capture as many cars as possible. It's the thin end of the wedge - how long before they move the date back even further while at the same time increasing the duty levels?

Better do more miles this year to make up for it; oh, that will cause C02 emmissions doing mileage when my car spends most of the time parked up during the week....
